Victor Harbor Primary School has clocked up 150 years of local education and is planning a community celebration for September.

It is calling for contribution of historic items, photos and stories that can be used for the event.

A Facebook group has been set up for past and present staff, students and families to share tales from history, near and long ago.

Anyone who has been involved with the school is invited to join up and help recreate and celebrate the history of the last 150 years.

The school is especially keen to find its oldest living former student.

As part of the September celebration the school will dig up its 50-year time capsule, with anyone who has an item buried in it welcome to join in.

The contents of the time capsule will be put on display at the school, with times available for the local community to visit and view.

Originally established in 1874, the school has recently been extensively upgraded.

Located on The Parkway, in Victor Harbor, it currently educates 470 students.
